New Mexico Grown Program Impact

NM Grown stakeholders are dedicated to enhancing program outcomes and effectiveness through deepening understanding of the program’s impacts, trends, strengths, and challenges. Current priority data and evaluation efforts include the NM Local Food Data Portal, regular program evaluation, and tracking key annual figures, all of which help foster learning, adapting, and making program improvements.

Program Evaluation:

Over the past few years, the NMFMA and the University of New Mexico (UNM) have collaborated on program evaluations for NM Grown. Most recently, UNM – with support from the NMFMA – conducted an evaluation of NM Grown over the FY23-FY25 period. This evaluation assessed NM Grown participation and sales data; county-level economic impacts; and Approved Supplier, buyer, and administering agencies’ perspectives and experiences.

The UNM and NMFMA team also produced a shorter summary report and three 2-page thematic overviews:

UNM additionally led an evaluation of the FY23 NM Grown meat pilot program, which resulted in a detailed report as well as a paper in a national food systems journal:
