The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) has announced the FY27 Healthy Food Financing Fund (HFFF) grant opportunity, continuing its investment in New Mexico’s local food systems and food security for communities across the state.

This funding is for shovel-ready projects that expand healthy food access, strengthen agricultural supply chains, and advance regenerative practices. Whether you’re a food retailer, processor, producer, or hub/distributor, this is a strong opportunity to grow New Mexico’s local food economy.

Available Grant Awards

Grants are available in three tiers:

• $150,000
• $100,000
• $50,000

An alternative opportunity of up to $20,000 plus 10 hours of technical assistance is also available.

What’s New This Year

Food banks and charitable food operations are now eligible for projects that fit an eligible category and include purchasing food from New Mexico producers.

• Climate-Smart Pre-Production

Funding Priorities

1. Expand healthy food access
2. Create and retain jobs
3. Strengthen markets for New Mexico producers
4. Improve storage and distribution networks
5. Advance regenerative agricultural practices

Eligible Uses

Funding may support facility improvements, equipment, transportation, project materials, predevelopment, value-added product materials, and limited project-support costs. Expenses must directly support the proposed project and be completed within the grant period.
